The Electric Revolution Unveiled
Chery, a leading Chinese automotive brand, has recently revealed some exciting details about its upcoming electric SUV, the Exeed Exlantix ET7. The Chinese MIIT has exposed the vehicle's impressive range capabilities, leaving us eager to learn more.
Unveiling the Range Secrets
The BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) variant of the Exeed Exlantix ET7 boasts an impressive range of up to 726 km! That's right, you can cruise for over 700 kilometers on a single charge. But here's where it gets controversial: there's also a slightly shorter range option of 682 km.
Under the hood, the BEV variant is equipped with a powerful 97.682 kWh ternary lithium (NMC) battery pack from CATL. This battery pack offers two distinct range options, catering to different driving needs.
For those seeking maximum range, the 726 km version is expected to be a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) SUV with a mighty electric motor capable of delivering a maximum power output of 230 kW (308 hp). With a curb weight of 2,200 kg and a top speed of 200 km/h, this SUV promises an exhilarating driving experience.
On the other hand, the 682 km range version is anticipated to be an all-wheel-drive (AWD) model, adding an extra motor to the front axle for enhanced performance. This setup boasts a combined system power of 353 kW (473 hp), a curb weight of 2,350 kg, and a top speed of 210 km/h.
But wait, there's more! The Exeed Exlantix ET7 also comes in an EREV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) variant, powered by a 1.5T engine as a range extender. This engine, with a maximum power of 115 kW (154 hp), is paired with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from either Anhui Deyi Energy Technology or Gotion. The EREV variant offers two battery capacity options: 39.816 kWh and 39.9168 kWh, corresponding to pure electric driving ranges of 203 km and 182 km, respectively.
And this is the part most people miss: the curb weight of the EREV variant is slightly higher, at 2,300 kg and 2,400 kg, respectively, due to the additional engine and battery setup.
While the electric motor parameters are yet to be revealed, the Exeed Exlantix ET7's dimensions have been confirmed. This SUV measures 4988/1975/1710 mm (l/w/h) and has a wheelbase of 3000 mm, providing ample space for five occupants. Compared to the current Exeed Exlantix ET, the ET7 sees an increase in length and height, offering a more spacious and commanding presence on the road.
Furthermore, the presence of a lidar on the roof and multiple sensors throughout the exterior suggest that the Exeed Exlantix ET7 will be equipped with an advanced driving assistance system. Chery's Falcon 700, powered by Horizon Robotics' Journey 6P chip with a compute power of 560 TOPS, is likely to be the brain behind this impressive system.
As we eagerly await more information about this exciting electric SUV, one thing is clear: Chery is pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology.
